GH 301: Global Healthcare Challenges

GH 301: Global Healthcare ChallengesLearn about healthcare disparities in a developing country 和 participate in a medical service trip to Ecuador.  This service-learning course is affiliated with Timmy Global Health (TGH), a non-profit foundation in Indianapolis (www.timmyglobalhealth.org), 和 the ISU Timmy student chapter.  学生 will travel to Ecuador on a TGH-supported service trip (Dec 31, 2024-Jan 12, 2025).  This GH 301 course prepares students for the trip by providing a general underst和ing of the people, 历史, 语言, 和 culture of Ecuador, 和 exploring the effectiveness of service trips 和 international volunteerism.  学生 enrolled in the course are expected to participate in fundraising activities for medication 和 supplies.GH 301: Global Healthcare Challenges

Applications to enroll in this GH 301 course 和 to participate in the medical service trip are due by noon, 周三, 9月18日.  All ISU undergraduates, especially those interested in careers in healthcare, are encouraged to apply.  Enrollment is limited to 24 students.  Interested students are strongly encouraged to consider joining the Timmy student chapter, which meets every other 周三 evening at 7pm in Science Room 18. The service trip typically costs about $3,100, with the University covering a portion of this cost for some students.  Spanish 语言 skills are helpful, but not essential.
